If you don't tell anyone these bases are made from cauliflower, they will never know. We love these more than a flour pizza base.
Cauliflower Pizza Base
1 cauliflower - cut up
1 large egg - whisked
1 tsp dried mixed herbs
2 cups grated cheese
Himalayan salt and pepper
Method
Oven 200 c - Oven tray lined with grease proof paper.
1 - Place the cauliflower in a food processor and blend until it has a rice consistency, add water
to help it break down.
2 - Place the cauliflower rice into a pot with more water, gently cook it for about 15 minutes, or until it is cooked with the lid on. Stirring and checking there is enough water.
3 - Place a colander over a bowl, then lay a strong blue chucks cloth inside the colander. Pour in the cauliflower mixture. Bring up the sides and squeeze out the hot liquid, ( I use a clean tea towel, to help with squeezing) until it is dry.
4 - Place in a bowl and add the other ingredients. Mix.
5 - Divide into 4 balls, and flatten down onto your lined tin. No too thin.
6 - Cook until golden brown, about 30 minutes.
Top with your favourite topping and cook again or freeze until ready to use.
Squeeze out the liquid.
Divide into 4 balls and flatten on to a lined tray. Bake until golden. The topping goes on after the base has been cooked. You then cook, again once the topping is on.
These pizza's were made by my senior kids in my cooking class. We mixed about 1/4 c unsweetened yogurt with a tablespoon of Tandoori paste and marinated, strips of chicken breast's, then topped the pizza base. Some of them, used the same marinate for vegetables - courgette, broccoli, onion, capsicum and tomatoes - turning them into a vegetarian pizza.
New idea's for your family, makes cooking fun.
