A Simple But Ultra Powerful Healing Tool...
Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, said over 2,000 years ago...
“All disease begins in the gut.”
It's taken many centuries for scientists to admit he was right.
Modern research has finally caught up, and one of the most powerful emerging healing tools doctors and scientists alike are advocating to help your gut and your immune system is...
Bone broth.
Nearly all diseases begin in the gut, named as ''your second brain'' and being the thermometer to your health, your gut really needs looking after.
Bone Broth is an excellent source of minerals and boost's the immune system. Remember when you were sick and your mum gave you chicken soup. There are many great web site's on bone broth and it's health benefits.
Bone Broth has -
Calcium
Phosphorus
Magnesium
Potassium
Rich in glycine, proline - amino acids.
Great for joints, hair, skin and nails because it is high in collagen.
Types of bones - Fish, chicken, lamb, and beef.
Bone broth is the base for your soups, some sauces and gravies.
Drinking Broth only -
I love to drink bone broth on it's own. Of course, I love a good soup with all those vegetables and herbs added, but sometimes broth on its only with a pinch of salt and pepper and maybe a few herbs, is amazing. The another night I had this for dinner, I was so full after a mug full of broth, I felt fantastic.
Sometimes we need to give our gut a break and just drink a liquid full of nutrient.
Bone Broth Recipe
large pot or crock pot
Bones - Beef - these can be bought as soup bones or at the dog food section - called dog bones ( meaning meat bones for dogs to chew ) they are normally cheaper but of the same quality, although you may need to remove a lot of fat.
- Chicken - normally in the freezer section and called ''chicken carcass'' or you can portion off a large chicken and cut out the bones, or use the bones from a roast chicken.
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar or lemon juice - this acid will help release the minerals in the bones.
Method - best cooked in a slow cooker overnight. Place on high for 1 hour and turn down to low.
1 - Cover your bones with water and add your acid and bring up to a boil, reduce to a simmer.
2 - Using a large spoon, remove any scum that rises to the top over the next hour.
Cooking - bones from red meat - up to 24 hours - simmering.
- bones from chicken - up to 24 hours - simmering
- bones from fish - 20 minutes only
3 - Pour through a sieve and cool the broth then remove any fat that is floating on the top.
4 - Taste and then season. For beef broth I like to add turmeric and plenty of pepper.
