Mulled wine

We drove up to one of our town's ski mountain's last night and Glenn and I had a mulled wine next to a fire. (as you do) It was a great evening with friends and our girls and their friends but the one  problem I have with bought mulled wine is it is way to sweet.

So here is a recipe with, some honey in it. You can ajust it to suit your taste.

Wait for a really cold night, light a fire if you can and enjoy.

Mulled Wine Recipe

1 bottle of red wine

1 cinnamon stick

5 whole cloves

2 bay leaves

1 orange sliced or 4 mandarins halved

1/2 lemon sliced

2 star anise

1 whole nutmeg - grated

1/2 cup honey

1 cup water or orange juice

Method

1 - In a medium size pot heat all the above except the wine.

2 - Simmer for 5 mins or until the honey is melted and the spice's have infused slightly.

3 - Add the wine. Just before serving bring to the boil and turn off. Don't boil otherwise the alcohol will disappear.

Serve - Relax
