Smoothies - GF

Glenn and I have a smoothie every morning. It is very filling and packed with nutrition and great fibre.

We change the ingredients around depending on whats in season or in the freezer.

In my freezer I have a bag of whole banana’s without the skin, frozen

A bag of pineapple cut into chunks - see page '' Freezing and Preserving ''

I buy really ripe banana’s and pineapple's when they are on special.

I don’t have the exact recipe for the water or yogurt used, you just add till you have the right consistency for drinking.

Yogurt - I make my own.

Milk - I use organic cows milk only, almond milk or coconut milk. A favourite is almond milk but check to see if sugar has been added. You can make almond milk yourself.

Water - it is best if you use filtered water. Our water comes from a natural spring.

Green Smoothie   GF

Eating raw organic foods is the best food you could ever eat. Raw greens are rich in Chlorophyll. This will give you oxygen enriched blood that will energise you and help prevent cancer because it will help to alkalise your blood.

2 mint leaves

Slice lemon - skin included

Slice fresh ginger

Water or coconut water

1 banana - usually frozen, slice

Buckwheat and banana Smoothie  GF

Buckwheat is high in magnesium, potassium, iron and calcium.

It has a grainy texture and is very filling. This makes a bulk amount. You can blend into a smoothie or eat as a chilled porraige.

Buckwheat and Banana Smoothie Recipe

500 gr Buckwheat - soaked overnight, rinsed - see  page on ''Soaking''.

Yogurt - enough to cover buckwheat

Berries or stewed fruit

Honey - depending on your yoghurt, mine is unsweetened.

Method

1 - In a medium bowl place raw but soaked / rinsed buckwheat

2 - Add yogurt so it covers the buckwheat well once mixed

3 - Stir in honey and berries

4 - Cover and place in fridge

5 - Blend enough for your breakfast adding a banana if you like.

This will keep up to a week in the fridge.
