Who doesn't love a great hamburger. When someone goes GF its the food like hamburgers that are really missed, especially if you are young. Here is an easy recipe that even kids can make. It makes 4 and you can freeze them.
Hamburger Buns - Gluten Free
3 - 4 cups gluten free flour
1 1/2 cups milk - almond, cows etc
2 1/2 tsp yeast - dry powder
2 eggs
1 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp sugar - I used coconut sugar
2 tbsp soft butter
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar - this helps with the rising
Method
1 - Heat milk to blood temperature - just warm then sprinkle yeast on top and leave for 10 minutes
2 - Mix sugar, salt and 3 cups flour in a large bowl.
3 - Make a well in the middle and drop in eggs, butter, vinegar and the milk mix. Mix well. If this is to sticky add extra flour.
4 - Divide into even size balls x 4, I use a scale so they are the exact size.
5 - Place on a lined oven tray and brush with either milk, yogurt or egg.
6 - Bake for up to 40 minutes or until they sound hollow and are golden brown. You can open one up slightly to check if cooked.
Heat milk to blood temperature then sprinkle yeast on top.
Mix all ingredients into together.
Roll into even size balls and then flatten them, the flatter you make them the wider the burger.
leave in a warm place ( I place mine in a warm oven turned off)
Brush the tops with either milk, egg or yogurt. Cook at 180 c in your oven for about 40 minutes.
Now use your favourite fillings for your hamburger. I used tomato, beetroot, lettuce, gherkins, meat patty, cooked courgette, asparagus, red onion and mushroom.
